Edinburgh International Conference Centre

A state of the art LED lighting system has
been installed at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, designed and
project managed by David Linger of Creative Lighting Ltd.
20 Mini Beamers RGB Units were used to
create some stunning lighting effects at the main entrance of the building, with
additional LED lighting inside the building, including five floors of escalators
and a 10 metre mural. All controlled by Showcad Artist through an AB Solutions
Wireless DMX system and programmed by Maria Jenkins.

Lighting Design Awards 2006
The annual Lighting Design Award for Exterior Lighting
2006 was won by Greg McLenahan for
a 15 minute piece based around the world's largest mirror ball; more
formally known as 'They Shoot Horses Don't They', a sculpture by
Michael Trainor on the Blackpool promenade.
The piece was controlled by a ShowCAD
Artist system.
The challenge was to create a new icon for the Blackpool
Illuminations that reflected the regeneration of the promenade
within the Blackpool master plan. The Mirror Ball, a sculpture
entitled ‘They Shoot Horses Don’t They’ by artist Michael Trainor,
was seen as the perfect canvas for a lighting show. Given the nature
of the installation, designer Greg McLenahan and the Blackpool
Illuminations Department opted for a dynamic, club style approach
that lit not just the mirror ball but also the surrounding
pedestrian areas. The shows last approximately 15 minutes to
encourage people to visit rather than simply drive past and a wow
factor has been achieved using moving head lights, mounted on
customised 5m-high posts with weather-protecting domes. The domes
are force-air cooled to remove heat from the fixtures. Though the
programme can be changed, the current show includes lighting
directly on to the ball, wandering onto the arena surrounding it
with colour changes, effects and gobos phased in and out. The judges
said simply: “You couldn’t light it better” and added that it
“invited a high level of interaction with the public”.

Jet at The Mirage, Las Vegas

The opening of the first ever nightclub at
a resort as world famous as The Mirage called for a unique design and
installation, which was carried out by John Lyons Moonlighting Organisation and
the shows programmed by Richard Warboys. An excellent article reviewing the ideas and work behind creating
the club as a complete entity can be read at Club
Systems International site:

Bahrain Financial Harbour

ShowCAD Artist has been chosen as
the lighting control software for the exterior feature lighting in the
first phase of the Bahrain Financial
Harbour project, to be commissioned by John
Lethbridge's Cereco International company. We also have the honour of
designing and supplying the extensive distributed DMX system network
and control computer. The artist's 3D render gives a good idea of the
extent of the project when completed. The two larger East and West
Towers, the Financial Centre that nestles between them and the Harbour
House are now under construction.
