 Show Control Applications

ShowCAD Artist systems operate nightly in hundreds of discotheques, bars, dance clubs and similar venues and the system is best known as this type of lighting controller. Considerable effort has been made to fulfil the demands of these venues, but as a multi-role control system, Artist is also to be found in installations with very different needs.

Early Days

Even at its’ first exhibition appearance at PLASA 92, Artist’s predecessor, ShowCAD, controlled a large quantity of moving lighting and generic fixtures for Coemar/Coetech, but it also cued two lasers by MIDI as well as the moving rig. Its’ ability to synchronously combine and integrate commands to different fixtures and units had already fulfilled the requirement that it be more than just a lighting controller.
Immediately following this launch, it was put to the test at the Expo 92 Coca Cola Pavilion in Iwate, Japan, where it was again called on to extend beyond the operation of lighting alone. The Japanese engineer at this venue was so impressed that he bought a system of his own.
With a number of communication protocols in place and using many powerful features, ShowCAD has been able to move on to integrate control of a wide range of equipment.

Stage & TV

On stage, we have lit shows ranging from Oh What a Lovely War and Johannesburg’s acclaimed Queen at the Opera through to Shakespearean productions. In Russia, ShowCADs operate very diverse equipment at the State TV station, at Palaces of Culture and Sport in Moscow, Tomsk, Surgut and Nizhnevartovst Siberia amongst many other venues.

Architectural Installations

BahrainVertsmallWe have supplied the lighting control and DMX distribution for the 8000+ channels of LED exterior lighting at the Harbour House, Financial Centre and the two Financial Centre Towers at the Bahrain Financial Harbour -  our latest and biggest architectural project to date. Please see full details at our News section on this website.

Another architectural example: two systems are used to light the atrium and also to light the exterior of The Hard Rock Hotel Las Vegas, where the programmes run automatically on a Real Time Clock. Inside the hotel, Artist also controls the discotheque. ShowCAD was installed into a series of more than 30 Warner Brothers Cinema foyers around the world, by PA Installations. The ability to run light shows, combined and integrated with sound and video, was successfully used to make these reception areas more entertaining and versatile for film premières and other special occasions, as well as for routine usage. Artist has been installed in control of shopping malls, hotel lobbies/adjoining areas, for signage and for numerous exterior lighting projects.

Cruise Ships

ShowCAD systems have been installed for the world’s major cruise ship operators including Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Chandris Celebrity, Princess Cruises, P & O, and Carnival Cruises and are detailed in the section Cruise Ships on this site.

Themed Attractions

Early on, the Sensorvision Theatre at Experience Australia, Melbourne employed ShowCAD to run time coded shows of the history of Australia 8 times a day, 7 days a week, operating with equipment from aroma generators through to projectors and video, as well as lighting effects.
ShowCAD and Artist systems have been used extensively in themed attractions, controlling everything from animatronix figures to fountains and waterfalls.  Volcanoland and The Merlion Bell - both on Sentoza Island Singapore, Meli Park in Belgium, Vikingland - Norway, The Stone Forest - China and The Old Parliament Building - Canberra Australia. In Florida, our systems control shows at Universal Studios, Wet and Wild, Splendid China and elsewhere. A system went into Seaworld Orlando – who returned to buy 3 more systems (to date). As with these installs, some site names almost describe what is being controlled……… The UFO Zone Granada Studios Tours - Manchester, England, Haunted Woods - Delaware, Football Football - London, Baileys Icon - Dublin, The Magic Mill and Cap’n Andy’s Show at Thorpe Park, England to mention a few.
At SEGAworld in the Trocadero Centre, Piccadilly Circus London, moving lighting, lasers, video wall and sound are co-ordinated and time coded with ShowCAD.

Recently an Artist system was incorporated in the Lighting Design Awards Exterior winner at the world's largest mirrorball on Blackpool, England's seafront. Other themed venues for Blackpool Illuminations are Thunderbird 3 (left) and the Chroma Tree, all programmed by Lighting Designer Greg McLenahan. These and other shows programmed by Greg using Artist can be seen at http://www.gregmclenahan.com/gallery/

An Artist system has been employed at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre see

Gala and Mecca casinos use Artist systems intensively.

The Stratofantazia show, commissioned by the Hong Kong Tourist Board and set on barges in in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour, employed Artist to control and cue video, lasers and sound as well as lighting and pyrotechnics.

Exhibitions

ShowCAD controllers have been used to great effect at many exhibitions - notably by leading effect lighting companies! Examples of such professional lighting companies who have used our controllers to run equipment at trade shows and exhibitions are:
Coemar De Sisti Australia, Vision Belgium, KLS Canada, J Collyns France, Coemar Italy, Studio Due Italy, fal Italy, Sagitter Italy, DTS Italy, Programmi Sistemi Luce Italy, Litecom Netherlands, Source One Singapore, GENI Taiwan, Apollo UK, Avitec UK, Cerebrum Lighting UK, Coe•tech UK, Lamba/KAM UK, LED Co UK, Lightmasters UK, MAD Lighting UK, UKD, Griven/Multiform UK, Terralec UK, Tryka LED UK, Coemar Orion USA,  Meteor USA, TAS USA, Techni-Lux USA …and probably more.....
As well as manufacturing fixtures, many of these companies manufacture their own lighting controllers…. We think that the fact that for exhibition purposes they chose ShowCAD in preference to their own controllers speaks for itself by way of recommendation.
ShowCAD and Artist have operated other commercial exhibitions - BMW launches & Microsoft exhibition stands are prime examples.
ShowCAD controllers have also controlled many artistic exhibitions - like Peter Greenaway’s Spellbound, where themes as diverse as World War 2, Cops and Robbers, Sex Shop and Science Fiction are all explored.

Live Events

ShowCAD controllers have controlled live lighting at numerous events. A suitable “all-encompassing” live performance example was a 6 night extravaganza for Televisa Chile. Producing a show for artists with very different demands - from Placido Domingo through to Huey Lewis and the News and Donna Summer. Not only was the show live, but it was also televised to 56 countries. 2 ShowCAD systems ran this and we hope this and many other examples prove it’s live capability.

Son et lumiere in India!

Son et Lumiere and AV shows in India: at Khajuraho Temple, The Red Fort - Delhi, Andaman & Nicobar Islands Visitor Centre, Anandpur Sahib - Punjab, Chittorgarh and Udaipur  …. and about 10 other sites - including Somnath (shown).

All of these installations commissioned and programmed by Veenu Pasricha of Double Exposure Delhi.

Australian Casinos!

At the Crown Casino Melbourne no less than 10 systems have been put to a variety of tasks including signage, displays as well as control of “club” areas. ShowCADs are also installed at the Reef Casino Cairns and Sydney Harbour Casino. All Australian enquiries to Coemar De Sisti Australia
